Our Top 5 Spots:
Rive Gauche
By Abigail Pyke
In celebration of our pop up space on the 1st floor of Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche for the month of May, we’re sharing our favorite spots between shopping, perfect for Parisians and travellers alike.
For some peace and movement: Le Tigre Yoga, 101, rue de Cherche-Midi, 75006
One of our favorite spots in Paris to recenter is Le Tigre Yoga, which has multiple locations throughout the city. The Rive Gauche location is a homey haven encouraging peace and the opportunity to unwind and refocus on well-being of both mind and body.
For a little culture: Musée Maillol, 61, rue de Grenelle, 75007
Though the Musée D’Orsay is a given spot to visit on the Left Bank on any day out in Paris, we love Musée Maillol for an alternative option. The museum is named for Aristide Maillol, an artist we love for his focus on the feminine form, something we at Ernest Leoty take great inspiration from.
In addition to Maillol’s pieces, we love the current exhibition of Emil Burhle’s massive collection. Featuring impressionist and post-impressionist artists like Manet, Cezanne, and van Gogh, we love this collection for its timely release. These artists were known for their use of eye-catching colors on beautiful, modern subjects.
For the quintessential Parisian afternoon: Beaupassage, 53-57, rue de Grenelle, 75007.
When asked what to eat in Paris, several iconic dishes come to mind, but beautiful Michelin star restaurants and delicate pastries are what we suggest for those looking for the quintessential experience. We recommend newly opened and relatively under-the-radar Beaupassage, located in the 7th district, an open air passageway that showcases the best in Parisian cuisine, from Pierre Hermé to Allénothèque. In addition to everything one could want from Parisian cuisine (including 17 collective Michelin stars), this area is home to a beautiful display of architecture, art installations, and nature.
Taking note of Paris past, Beaupassage is a nod to the passages that were extremely popular in Ernest Leoty’s time in the 19th century, as a way to gather businesses in beautiful and historic outdoor spaces.
For the literary history and stunning interiors: Hotel Lutetia, 45, boulevard Raspail, 75006.
Right by Le Bon Marché sits Hotel Lutetia, a grand hotel that reopened its doors last year after renovations to revitalise the iconic Art Deco elements while injecting some contemporary design into its storied interior. From displaying beautiful frescos on the ceiling in Bar Josephine to the stunning restored stained glass panels in Le Saint Germain restaurant, this hotel’s interiors begs for a few photos along with your cocktail.
Nicknamed as the place where Parisians learned to think, the Left Bank and Hotel Lutetia has played host to a number of literary icons over the years, including Ernest Hemingway and James Joyce.
For the perfect spot to shop Ernest Leoty: Le Bon Marché, 24, rue de Sèvres, 75007.
If 24, rue de Sèvres is a familiar address to you, we wouldn’t be surprised. The address where Le Bon Marché stands has become synonymous with the shop itself, and with the atmosphere of the area around it. We’re thrilled to be hosting our pop up shop for the month of May featuring favorites from our collection.
