Off the Beaten Track:
South of France
By Abigail Pyke
The south of France is a popular holiday destination, for travellers and the French alike. The glamorous spots of Nice, Cannes, and Saint Tropez come to top of mind when vacation planning, but we’re sharing our picks for a more off-the-beaten-track type of escape, maintaining the glamour and the indefinable allure of the Cote D’Azur. Whether you’re looking for a day trip from the bigger cities or a true escape, look no further than the spots below:
FROM CANNES to ILE SAINTE-MARGUERITE
Just a short ferry ride away from the glamorous beachside city, we love Ile Sainte-Marguerite for its ease of respite from the bustle of the city. Taking a calmer, less urban approach to doing Cannes in style, be sure to take a day trip to this beautiful, uninhabited island to immerse yourself in eucalyptus trees and quiet beaches.
FROM NICE TO EZE
Only a short drive from Nice, Eze is made up of two parts: Eze-village, a medieval village propped up on a hilltop overlooking the Mediterranean, and Eze-sur-mer, the part of the beautiful commune that sits on the sea. Make a day of it walking the Nietsche path overlooking the hills and the water, followed by a well-deserved dinner as Les Remparts (the restaurant at five star hotel, La Chevre D’Or), or make a whole trip of it, staying at the chic hotel and wandering through the galleries and shops the village has to offer.
FROM SAINT-TROPEZ TO SAINT-RAPHAEL
Skip the trendy resorts in Saint Tropez for a glamorous stay away from the crowds. Head only an hour away from the bustle to our first choice for true relaxation, Hotel Les Roches Rouges. Situated on the sea, we love their Esthederm Spa, gorgeous pool, and weekly yoga classes — so much so, that Les Roches Rouges was the site of our Spring Summer 2019 look book shoot. Of course, there’s nothing better than waking up to the sights of the calm and warm Mediterranean.
